METALLIC CERAMIC PASTE (1 LB.)
Thickening MCX with MCP
CermaKrome (MCX) and Metalic Ceramic Paste (MCP) are compatible materials and they can be used to thin or thicken each other. These products are both water based and Distilled water can be used to thin them even more. Changing the level of water and aluminum in the coating will change how it dries and the resulting finish, you can use these two products to adjust for environmental changes that are beyond the control of most shops.
Preparation of the coating:
- Shake and stir the MCX before use. Putting the coating in a blender and setting it on high for a few minutes will prepare the coating for spraying.
- The MCP should be stirred before use to make a consistent paste.
Adjusting the coating:
MCX is designed to be applied in humidity levels that are considered normal in most areas (50% to about 80%) sometimes these levels are exceeded or high or low temperatures will affect the final finish of the coating. This
can be compensated for by adding small amounts of the MCP to MCX to adjust the levels of aluminum in the MCX up.
Adding distilled water to MCX will adjust the levels of aluminum down and will change the drying speed of the coating.
